Translation & Localization
Spanish, Catalan & French into English with an editor’s ear
Some translations are accurate and still sound translated. I try to avoid that.
I translate from Spanish, Catalan, and French into English, with a focus on clear, natural, culturally fluent U.S. English. My job is not only to carry words from one language into another, but to preserve tone, rhythm, meaning, and intent so the final text feels as if it was written for its audience from the start.
Based in Barcelona, I work with brands, agencies, publishers, organizations, and creative professionals who need English-language content that is precise, readable, and ready to use. My background as a translator, editor, copywriter, and MFA-trained writer gives me a particular sensitivity to voice, style, and audience.
What I translate
I work across a range of fields, with particular experience in:
Marketing translation and brand content
Website localization and SEO-informed web copy
Literary translation and editorial texts
Tourism and hospitality translation
Legal and financial translation
Life sciences, medical, and technical content
Fashion, arts, culture, and lifestyle copy
Articles, reports, presentations, and client-facing materials
Internal communications, guides, and training content
Whether the text is commercial, creative, technical, or somewhere in between, I pay close attention to the details that make English sound natural: sentence flow, register, terminology, cultural context, and the expectations of the reader.
Language pairs
My main working language pairs are:
Spanish to English translation
Catalan to English translation
French to English translation
English to Spanish translation, depending on the project
My primary target language is U.S. English, though I can adapt texts for different English-speaking audiences when needed.
Translation or localization?
Some projects need a faithful translation. Others need a more flexible approach.
A legal document, medical text, or technical file may require precision, consistency, and strict terminology management. A website, campaign, tourism text, or brand message may need something more adaptive: language that works culturally as well as linguistically.
That is where localization comes in. I adapt the text to the audience, market, tone, and context, while keeping the core message intact.
How I work
Before translating, I look at what the text needs to do.
Is it meant to inform? Sell? Explain? Persuade? Reassure? Tell a story? Sound elegant? Sound invisible?
The answer shapes the translation.
I review each project for accuracy, tone, terminology, consistency, style, and readability. When needed, I can work with glossaries, style guides, translation memories, and CAT tools to keep terminology consistent across larger or recurring projects.
I regularly work with tools such as Trados, Wordfast, Memsource/Phrase, Smartling, and other translation platforms used by agencies and international teams.
